F-16 Tiger Demo Team T-Shirt - Update All

Date:

Hello everyone

Today's a slightly delayed update on our T-shirt donation and fundraising campaign for a commemorative plaque dedicated to Lt. Col. Maciek SLAB, a Krakowian. Last week, we sent out the final orders, which, as you know, were overwhelming. Virtually everyone has now received their T-shirts, so we can briefly summarize the campaign. Ultimately, we sold slightly fewer T-shirts than initially anticipated. This is due to some duplicate orders, some unpaid orders, and a few cancellations, as we mentioned earlier. Ultimately, we managed to raise XXX, which will still meet our initiative's needs for now. Therefore, as we mentioned earlier, we do not plan to resume sales at this time.

This is what our plaque, which turns out to be... a memorial, is supposed to look like.

 Kalkomanie

This brings us to the heart of the matter. When we contacted the 31st Tactical Air Base last fall, together with base officers, we identified several locations where we could potentially place our plaque. For various reasons, a site managed by the City of Poznań was ultimately selected. About a month ago, when our initiative began, the Commander of the 31st BLT submitted an application to erect a plaque there, and last week we received a response from officials stating that our initiative to erect a plaque formally qualifies as a memorial, which in turn requires a rather complicated procedure in accordance with the relevant resolution of the City of Poznań. At this point, it became clear that we would either change the location or fail to erect the plaque on the first anniversary of the accident where we wanted it. One note, which some are likely concerned about, is where this location is. As you can see, this is a somewhat delicate and developing matter, so we are not yet disclosing everything, including the exact location. For now, it suffices that it must be a public, accessible place, and within walking distance of the Poznań-Krzesiny airport. After discussion, we decided it was time to do it right and will submit an application for the monument. The application is currently being prepared according to the procedure described above, and once submitted, we will specify its exact content, including the location.

Since it is already clear that we will not be unveiling our plaque on the first anniversary of his death, we are wondering how we could, at least symbolically, honor the memory of Lieutenant Colonel Maciek, a Krakowian, through this initiative.

We also know that many of those who purchased the T-shirts are traveling to Leszno, where the well-known Pilot Miś (Miś) is organizing a "light in the sky" in memory of SLAB. Unfortunately, due to family reasons, we cannot travel to Leszno, but we hope to see many of you a week later in Suwałki, where we will have a sales stand.

One final point: Many people are still asking us about resuming the sale of T-shirts/contributions. As we've already mentioned, and especially now that the process is taking longer, we don't see the need for it, but we don't rule out a resumption in the future once we know the exact costs of erecting the monument.

However, we promise to introduce a completely new T-shirt design that somehow alludes to the F-16 Tiger from Krzesiny, and this T-shirt will be available soon.

That's all for today.

Tiger, tiger, tiger!
